The Arabian Peninsula, faithfully rendered.
Photoreal landscapes built from real reference: ancient stone, desert wind, and the weight of a place that has stood longer than any of us.
A narrative action-adventure across the Arabian Peninsula, and the subconscious.
Amina is a Lebanese danger-zone photojournalist, the best in her firm, who learned as a child to feel nothing and let the picture do it for her. When she photographs her grandmother's last breath instead of holding her hand, something gives. Obsession follows, then the loss of everything. She retreats to a town where she can find peace, but finds herself on a couch she can't leave.
To survive, Amina takes gigs around the Arabian Peninsula. While traveling to different places between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, she visits iconic locations between museums and different landscapes where her psyche takes her into worlds shaped by Anxiety, Imposter Syndrome and Anger.
Her camera is her only tool. It bends time and reshapes the world around her. No combat. Observation and insight. Lumen, a companion with the glow of the nightlight her mother plugged in when she was small, guides her and opens paths between the two worlds.
Photoreal landscapes built from real reference: ancient stone, desert wind, and the weight of a place that has stood longer than any of us.
A twisted mirror of the real world, bent through the lens of emotion. Each chapter is a feeling you can walk through, push against, and eventually forgive.
A companion made of light, and a manifestation of Amina's psyche. She will guide Amina through the Otherworld, and allow her to face her buried emotions. She is the second playable character of Threads of Light.
Emotions are places, and the way each one is built is the gameplay. Every Otherworld chapter is one emotion. You get through it by understanding it.
No combat. You face the Shades, Amina's emotions given form, with observation and insight. Every encounter is a puzzle to read.
AlUla, Khaybar, Hegra, Abu Dhabi, Dubai. Ancient cities, oases and natural environments, recreated with care by a team from across the region.
Two worlds connected through Amina's subconscious, chiral reflections of each other, similar but fundamentally different. What mysteries await in the Otherworld?
Each chapter in the Otherworld corresponds to one emotional state. The terrain, the light and the creatures that hunt or guide you are all built from that feeling.
Geometry that breathes. Floors that rearrange the moment you stop watching. The horizon never quite arrives.
Heat without source. A land that takes more than it gives, until you stop fighting it for what it is.
Doors that recognise you and refuse to open. Mirrors that do not. Rooms that quietly become someone else's.
These are the games that showed us interactive stories can hit as hard as the best books and films. We're not comparing ourselves to them. We learned from them.
A short note when the demo drops and when the Steam page opens. No filler.
